Blinds, Shutters and Curtains Advice

Practical guides on choosing, measuring and living with blinds, shutters, curtains and awnings in a Sydney home.

  • 34 guides

This is the advice we give at the kitchen table, written down. Everything here comes from measuring, making and installing window coverings in Sydney homes, so it deals with real reveals, shallow headboxes, west facing glass and salt air off the coast.

No sales pitch and no filler. Read what suits your windows, work out what you actually want, then book a free measure and quote when you are ready to go ahead.

It is sorted by topic rather than by date, because the answer to how deep a reveal needs to be does not change from one year to the next. Each category below holds the guides for that part of the range.

Common questions

Is this advice specific to Sydney homes?

Yes. Reveal depths, afternoon heat, coastal air and strata rules all shape what works here, and the examples are drawn from jobs across the Sutherland Shire, St George and the Eastern Suburbs.

Do you charge for the measure and quote?

No. The visit, the measure and the written quote are free, and there is no obligation at the end of it.

Which window coverings do you make yourselves?

Roller, venetian and vertical blinds are made in our own Sydney factory. Roman blinds, shutters, curtains and awnings we supply and install with our own fitters.

Where do I start if I have no idea what I want?

Start with the room, not the product. The choosing and measuring guides walk through what each room needs before you look at a single fabric.
