Vertical Blind Advice

Sliding doors and stack direction, how verticals compare with roller blinds, and how to measure an opening properly.

Vertical blinds are built for wide openings and sliding doors, where a single roller would be heavy to lift and awkward to use. The vanes stack to one side and turn to control light, so you can walk through a doorway or angle the glare away without closing the room in.

We make our vertical blinds in our own Sydney factory, and the track is cut to the opening rather than to a stock width. The stack side, the vane width and the control side all get decided at the window, and these guides explain how we make those calls.

Vertical blinds for sliding doors covers which side the stack should sit on, clearing the handle, bottom chains around kids and dogs, and wand or cord controls. Roller blinds vs vertical blinds compares the two on doors, bedrooms, privacy and very wide windows. How to measure for vertical blinds walks through recess and face fits, reveal depth, floor clearance and the mistakes that leave gaps.

Fabrics and colours are on our vertical blinds page, and if you would rather talk it through at the window, that is what the free measure is for.
