Caringbah and Caringbah South keep us busy. Some of it is new work on rebuilt houses, and plenty of it is older family homes getting their windows sorted properly for the first time in twenty years. Our roller blinds are made in our own Sydney factory, 100 per cent Australian made, so a wide opening gets the right tube rather than whatever fits.

Caringbah South has had a lot of knockdown rebuilds, and the new houses tend to share two features. A big rear opening, usually a stacker door onto the alfresco, and far more glass than the old house. A four panel stacker needs the blind sized to the whole opening rather than the door, so the fabric clears the handle when the doors are pushed back. On a raked ceiling the top fix gets packed level or the blind rolls off to one side.
Down towards the Port Hacking foreshore, around Willarong Road, there are two storey places with a void over the living room and fixed glass up high. Those windows cook the room. Motorised rollers make sense up there, because nobody is dragging a ladder out twice a day. Back near the Kingsway the older brick homes are still on aluminium sliders with decent reveals, and a plantation shutter suits those.
Wide openings are where a made to order roller blind pulls away from a bought in one. Our roller blinds come out of our own Sydney factory, 100 per cent Australian made. On a five metre stacker we can spec a heavier 63mm tube instead of a 45, add a centre bracket, or split the run into two blinds on one continuous fascia so the join lands on a door stile and you hardly notice it.
Across the industry, a lot of companies simply resell what a wholesaler builds. That is fine on a standard bedroom window. It comes apart on a raked ceiling, a curved bay, or a reveal 12mm narrower at the bottom than the top. Those are the jobs people ring us about, and they get solved at the measure with a tape in hand.
We travel to you. No showroom visit, no hunting for a park near the Kingsway, and no quoting off a photo. Someone comes out with the sample books, measures every opening with the doors and handles where they actually sit, and writes the quote up properly. If one of you is never home before six, we work around that. We will also say straight out if a window suits a shutter better than a blind.

Caringbah South, Taren Point, Woolooware and Miranda are minutes away, and we run down to Lilli Pilli, Dolans Bay, Yowie Bay, Burraneer and Port Hacking, then across to Cronulla, Greenhills Beach and Kurnell. Builders and renovators ring us a fair bit as well. Common questions
Do you cover Caringbah South as well as Caringbah?
Yes, both, along with the streets running down towards Burraneer and Yowie Bay. We come to the house to measure and bring the samples with us, so there is nothing for you to drive to. New builds and older homes are the same job to us. If the place is still a site, we will meet your builder there instead.
What do you put on a big stacker door?
Most of the new rebuilds around here have a stacker running three or four panels wide. We fix a fascia or a headbox above the full opening and split the width into two or three blinds behind it, so each one stays light on the chain. The fabric sits clear of the sliding panels and the walking end can stay up.
How do blinds work with a raked ceiling?
The blind still hangs plumb, so we either fix to the wall above the window or use an angled bracket off the rake. What you cannot do is follow the slope with a square blind. Where the glass itself is raked, at the top of a void say, the fabric needs a guide wire or a track to hold it against the angle.
There is high fixed glass above the void in our entry. Can it be covered?
Yes, and it wants a motor. Nobody is getting a chain to a blind five or six metres up, and a long chain over a void is a hazard with kids in the house. We run a remote motor, either battery with a charge lead brought down within reach, or hard wired if the sparky can get a cable there.
Should we get you in before the house is finished?
Get us involved at frame stage. That is when the sparky can still run cable for a motor, when we can ask for a bulkhead or a recess above the windows to hide the rolls, and when a fixing point behind the plaster is easy to add. We talk to builders often. Measuring happens later, once the architraves are on.
